This week in maths we did decimals and whole numbers. if the question was Katie ran 9.07 on her first day  She ran 1.18 on the second day. How far did Katie's run altogether? first you would do 2+1= 3 then you would do 0.40+0.18=5 and lastly you plus them together here's my work
3+0.58= 3.58

How To Write A Good Blog

A Good Blog

for writing this week we need to write a blog about how to write a good blog and comment my goals was to write linking words and  identify key words which when combined with prior knowledge, will help with understanding.                                                                                                             

A good blog should have a catchy title. For example As the the floor boards Creaked as it ran at me. The catchy title should be able to lure people in. A good blog should also have an introduction and The goal you are working on to Increase your Knowledge about the topic. A question to encourage comments like did you do this in the holidays.

Today with mark we learned how to use the blogger world map to see people who have been on our blog and what country they are from. watch the video to see the map. 

Probability Fun

this week in maths we made predictions based on data collected and identify all possible answers of an event. We used a bag full of counters but one colour had more than the other. We had to guess which one would come out more

Easter Hunt

PM Jacinda Ardern has announced that the Easter bunny is an essential service. This means that while we are in lock down he can still deliver eggs I love Easter eggs. She has also challenged us to create New Zealand's biggest Easter egg hunt. She has shared a picture of an egg for people to colour in and leave outside on their gate or in a window. people are allowed to go find them in there bubble.

Mum and I coloured in some eggs and stuck them to our fence for other children to find when they are out walking. Mum found some maths easter puzzles as well. I had to do the math and then work out the colour to colour in each piece of the picture of the Easter bunny sitting in an egg.  We stapled these to our fence to.

It was eggcellent and fun.

scavenger hunt

We had to go on a scavenger hunt and find things of every letter of the alphabet. I climbed in and on some things so that mum could take photos. 

A = apple tree, i grew this from a seed in
an apple after I had finished eating it.
Dad and I planted all the seeds from the
apple and this is the only one that grew.

B = bears, these are the bears that the 

people at my mum and dads wedding signed. 

lots of people have put bears in their 

window for the lock down.

C = container, this is my dads shed! 
we love to climb on top and throw
water balloons at the neighbours.

D = dog, this is our neighbours 

dog called Ruby.

E = earmuffs, i have to wear these
when we mow the lawns.

F = fruit trees, these are all minature fruit trees

 but they grow full size fruit which is weird.

G = gate, this is me standing at our gate.

H = hedge, one side of our street 

has a big long hedge.

J = James, me doing my favourite

K = kite, i am lucky that my back 

yard is big enough to fly kites.

L = letterbox, this is the row of 

letterboxes for some of the houses 

in our street.

M = motorbike, i love to ride and 

make tracks at my house.

N= neighbours, these are our neighbours 

Lynn and Lyndon who we are keeping 

at least 2m from during lock down.

P = plants, we have lots but this is 

one at our front door that i like to water.

R = relish, i helped mum pick all the green tomatoes from our garden and then she made relish. The recipe is from my great great great grand mother Nana Clemett.

S = smudge, he is my cat 

and super cute and cuddly.

T = trailer, can you see me?

U =unicorns, these are my favourite 

soft toys.  I love unicorns.

V = vegetable garden, we grow potatoes, 

tomatoes, corn, broccoli, cauliflower, 

carrots and lots of onions.

Bored At Our House

Bored 

at our house we were so bored we decided to sort all of our lego. We found we Had 3 60 litre containers full  of lego. We started by sorting it into colours which meant we had buckets and buckets Full of Lego all over our floor. we found all of the lego books and started making the sets all over again we had some competitions.

 It was me and my brother vs my mum and dad my brother and I always won. So far we have built Two firestations, two planes, a massive yellow truck, a police truck, a airport, a airport bag carrier and two fishing boats while I was typing this my mum was building a police station.

 all of this lego building is encouraging us to work together and build teamwork the thing i have enjoyed most about lego building is when I find a piece the my family cant find

Moon

Living on The Moon

If I was living on the moon I would expect it to be cold, lonely, strange and boring.  I would take all my Favourite foods, games and puzzles before leaving earth so that I was happy for a while.  When i run out of food I will come back to Earth.  

I may try to grow some trees so that there would be oxygen for humans to live there without wearing a mask.  I would try to also grow some apple trees, banana trees and coconut trees so that i have some food.  I would have to use some Bonemeal (from Minecraft) which helps the trees grow faster.  All I have to do is make the Bonemeal touch the tree and it will be fully grown with fruit ready to eat. 

I would like to walk around the whole moon so that I can see how long it would take. I am guessing this would take a very long time so I will need to take some supplies with me to survive.  In my Moonwalker vehicle i would pack food and water.  

I think it would be hard to live on the moon forever, would you like to live on the moon?

Ice Cream

Ice Cream 

this week at the Ellenbroek ice cream factory we have just made a new ice cream flavour. The new flavour is Cookies and Cream Goodie gum drops. we are going to get it out on the streets today and get selling. It is crunchy and chewy. It smells like Chocolate, Vanilla and melted lollies

 We had to test it and get our pet dog to taste it.  It is a special chocolate so the dog wont die when they eat it. The vanilla is creamy like milk and your pet cats will love it. Our great grandmas favorite flavours were cookies and cream and goodie gum drop so we mooooshed them together and made a new flavour. The Oreo was The finest Oreo in the world.

If you want to try it you have to get ready for us to launch it. You will have to pay heaps of money but it will be worth it.    

  

Animals

If I could be any animal....

I would love to be a narwhal. My main reason for wanting to be a narwhal is because they are cool and they have a big horn. They get to swim in the ocean and I love swimming too. They live in cold places like Antarctica and the north pole and I like the snow so we would be similar.  Did you know my horn is 10ft long???

A typical day for narwhal James would be

1. wake up from my sleepy sleep under the ice

2. search for food and play with my narwhal friends 

3. swim fast to keep away from the predators

4. and go back to sleep 

Lockdown

Lock down at my house - day 5!

At my house for lock down my brother and I were riding our motor bikes. In our backyard we made a track with a big jump.  First we had to ride over a jump, around the back of the fort then over another jump on the wee hill and then through the hockey balls which were our cones and then back to the start.   

I have also been having lots of fun playing video games with my friends.  Mum thinks I have been playing online games too much but I say "its the school holidays mum". I have also been using my device to contact my friends on snap chat.

Because it has been raining a lot we have been inside lots of the time. we have been sorting all the Lego at our house into its colours. then we are going to sort them back into their original set and I think this is going to take a very long time.

Hello. My name is James this week in math we have been doing math differently this week. 

Math this week has been different to other weeks because you had to fold paper into shapes and then write math problems inside those shapes. Then we had to figure out those problems it was fun. I hope we do it every week from now on. I was challenged to push till I finished. It was hard at first but when I understood I loved to do it because it is very efficient. And it was hard to do the folding.

LEGO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi my name is James.

On the fifth of August we had Rachel come in with lots of Lego that we could play with. She made us do three different hard challenges. The first one was who could build the biggest tower. My group was coming first for a while but then people joined together and overtook my group. We came in third though our tower was 1 m and 23 cm. The tallest tower was 1 m and 53 inches.

Then we had a challenge of who could build a car that goes the farthest. My group did kinda good. Our cars didn't go that far we came 2nd to last we didn't know how to make the Technic car so we got Pieta who kindly built our car for us we built our Lego car by ourselves our cars didn't go that far.

The last challenge was to build a bridge that could hold books, pens and whiteboard markers my group was good we where destroying everyone else's but then ours collapsed I was sad.

One day i woke up in a scary house. i realized it was granny’s house. was so scared. Granny walked in i hid underneath the bed i didn’t move a muscle she said in a creepy voice “where are you” then she walked out of the room and placed a bear trap so i coudn’t leave i got up and ran to the doorway i jumped over the bear trap and ran down the stair’s i could here grannys foot steps i turned left and ran into the basment i found a key i looked around i spoted a key lock on a door i put the key in the lock and turned it the door creaked open i saw a tranquilizer on the floor as well as a bullet i put the bullet in the gun and did a 180 and shot granny she fell to the ground i walked over top over her ran to the car and started the engine there was no fuel. So i had to go and find fuel a few moments later i went deeper into the basment soon i found gas i lifted it up and walked to the car and stated to pour it into the car a few seconds later the tank was empty i ran to find some car pieces soon i found a two car pieces like the battery and the steeringwhell i went and put them next to the car and went to find a wrench


what do you wreken will happen next take a guess granny might curse YOU! if you don't guess 

Ferry Mead Trip!!!

On 29 of October we went to Ferry Mead. We had to put on theses old clothes that the people hundreds of years used to wear. The clothes we had to wear were knickerbockers and super tight shirts and a weird hat. I wanted to take it of in my group I had Tamara as my parent. I also had Corrine Elise Oliver William Cairo Archie and Cory here are some pictures.

Amazing Museum Trip!!!!

Hi my name is James and on the 16 of September we went to the Museum we learned about Maori and Polynesian and saw how they lived and what they used to carve out the canoes and what they used as drills and how the used as drills, hammers, and how the made the end of the axes on sandstone scroll down for some pictures.

We looked at some puzzles that had one hole and you had to move them and finish the puzzle. I had 10 minutes to do it. I couldn't , at first, then after we walked around the whole museum we walked back and I said to his mum "all I need is 4 minutes" and what happened we went back and I Finished the puzzle in 4 minutes. 

What is your favorite thing to do at the museum???????

Newspaper Challenge's

Newspaper Challenge's

this term we have been doing challenges. We did three challenges the first one one we had to make clothes out of 24 sheets of newspaper 10 meters of tape and 3 or 4 people. the second challenge was build a ramp for a marble. In this challenge we had to build a ramp to hit a can we had 3m of tape, 8 pieces of newspaper my group almost hit the can we got three points because of how far the marble went.

The last challenge was to build a device too pick up a balloon that was 1.5m away. My group did good until our tool ripped in half when we almost almost got the balloon. That challenge was my favorite challenge. The materiel's we had to use were 1m tape, 7 newspaper, and 5m of string.

Winter sport

Hello my name is James. This season for winter sport my team played soccer. 
This season of winter sport we have had been somewhat successful. We have lost most of our games and we also won some of our games. In one of our games the score was two- two. We had to have 5 extra mins. No one scored. We had a penalty shoot out and still no one scored. The other teams coach said she will tell the football manager that the score was two- two and see what happens. The fifteenth of August was our last game. Our fitness and skill levels improved a lot. My fitness improved a lot because I play soccer on Saturdays and I also kick soccer balls every night after school. My mum was our awesome coach. she gave up all her Thursday afternoons to be with us.

This term for math's and last term we have been doing math boards. Math's boards have four squares and a circle in the middle. In the circle in the middle you write a question that you think will challenge you. my favorite thing about it is a visual solution.
